Burnout manifests in many ways and has many contributing factors and therefore is best understood as a constellation of symptoms. Anxiety, hopelessness and feeling stuck, quick anger, frustration and uncertainty are common emotions. Difficulties arise at work and home to varying degrees and can shift just when you’re certain where the problem lies. Vacations and distractions help, but only temporarily, and often allow the problems to grow unnoticed until it’s often too late to avoid catastrophes such as divorce, job loss and career change, which are emotionally and financially devastating.
